Fashion Aspirant? Some Jobs in Fashion

When talking about fashion, those who are fond of it feel it like an ocean of pleasantries which you want to get more and more of. But when it comes to the job you will be doing, you mostly get confused as to what will you be doing. Mostly, fashion aspirants develop a thinking that if they want to rise in fashion, they need to become a typical industry insider, doing things of all Bollywood and styling celebs (no offences if you know more already). To satisfy your curiosity, let me tell you that there is a lot more than just working in the industry. You can do a job in fashion even by working somewhere else. Here are some of the job options for you to cherish your passion for fashion and turn it into your profession. I will provide options from both inside and outside the industry.

• INSIDE THE FASHION INDUSTRY

1. Internship : At the starting, you can start working and getting some experience before stepping into a typical fashion job. However, you will not get much money as you are not directly working. After that, if you keep going fine at your work the company the team of any designer in which you are an intern can also employ you for a specific job.

2. Garment manufacturing : you can simply start manufacturing apparels but you need to have a facility of selling them somewhere. Also, I don't suggest it as an important work initially because being a newbie, you cannot have many contacts.

3. Personal stylist : if you get a good reference in your work, you can also be appointed by a celeb or simply any person whom you can style. But you need to have a good hand at your work. Many stars have a team of stylists so you can be one of them also.

4. Textile designing : if you find designing and embroidery your type of work, you can do works for it and start designing fabrics, its textures and embellishments. But, this is not too profitable and you might not get too much money.

• OUTSIDE THE FASHION INDUSTRY

1. Advertising agencies : You might not have given it a thought but there are plenty of jobs in advertising companies for designers. Such companies do need costumes for ad shootings.

2. Magazines : Reading fashion magazines is alluring but working for it is even more dreamy. You can also work in a magazine company and if you are good at impressive writing, you can get a good fortune also. There are articles on fashion which can be your future job. Give it a go.

3. Online websites : Working for websites and designing clothes for them can also come your way. There are offices for such companies where you can apply for a job and can work smoothly, organising fashion wears.

4. Designing for malls : many of the malls have people who design for them. It is more of an informal kind of work but as a beginner, you cam try on it.

5. Personal Boutiques : If you have enough capital and provision for starting your own boutique, it is an independent work where you don't have to work under someone. But, you need to approach people.

6. Event managing: people involved in event management also require textiles and apparels. Raw fabrics are used for decoration and many of the clients ask the managing company to arrange designer dresses. You can get in touch with any such company and try your luck in this.

7. Fashion Blogging: you can also choose writing about fashion as a profession but there is not assurance of getting a flourishing future in this. You can also do it side by side with your other career.
